Did you ever think you would be able to jump inside a video game? Would it be possible to even control the virtual landscape from the opposite screen? For the longest time, aspirations of creating this type of immersive technology has inspired designers and developers alike to build a solution that blends two worlds together and to construct something truly captivating. And it has only been a few years since the majority of the public even knew what Virtual (VR) or Augmented Reality (AR) was or meant. Games like Pokémon GO caught the attention of many excited players and consumers due to the use of AR and how it affected play depending on real world locations. While Pokémon GO became one of the biggest games in 2016, it would just be the beginning of how developers and designers craft the next category of immersive technology: Holographic Augmented Reality (Holographic AR).

Integem is a high-tech company at Silicon Valley (Cupertino, CA). Integem has created and developed the Holographic Augmented Reality (Holographic AR) visual programming language (iCreator) and experience platform. Holographic AR is redefining the ways in which we connect, communicate, and interact with machines and the world through the use of natural user interfaces (NUI) and immersive virtual environments.
From Summer 2018, Integem offers Holographic AR summer camps for k-12 students.
Albert Einstein once wrote “In art, and in the higher ranges of science, there’s a feeling of harmony which underlies all endeavor. There is no true greatness in art or science without that sense of harmony.” Augmented Reality is a live embodiment of Einstein’s belief. By marrying lights and sounds, art and science, humans and machines in unprecedented ways, holographic AR changes how people perceive and interact with their surroundings. Designing an immersive experience where real and virtual objects communicate in perfect harmony requires insights, patience, and lots of practices. After years of experiences developing AR solutions, Integem has learned a few things about design strategies and human behaviors that might be helpful to you as you embark on your own AR journeys. The following 10 points summarize Integem’s observations on what constitutes a memorable and practical design. Read more
Remember in elementary school we were required to memorize the names of the fifty states and their capitals? Looking back, we can’t help but wonder how much did we really know about the states besides their geographical presences. As we tried to remember the double “n”s in Pennsylvania, did we know the types of houses that dominate its architectural scenery, the unique accent that only the natives can master, or the signature dish that eager tourists travel for miles just to have a bite? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to walk in the streets of Philadelphia and experience everything ourselves? One look at the mouth-watering Philly Cheesesteak, the whole state comes to life. Now, all we crave is lunchtime. Read more
